A Loblaws location in Toronto's Roncesvalles neighbourhood will soon close its doors to make way for a No Frills store.
In an emailed statement to blogTO, a Loblaw spokesperson confirmed that the Loblaws grocery store and pharmacy at 2280 Dundas St. W. will be closing on May 2, 2026. The No Frills store is expected to open sometime "later this year."
The company says it believes "a No Frills store will better serve the evolving needs of the local community," and will work to ensure a smooth transition for its pharmacy patients.

Coincidentally, a nearby Shoppers Drug Mart location at 2440 Dundas St. W. is also gearing up to close this spring, leaving residents in the area with fewer walkable options, although a new Loblaw-owned pharmacy is reportedly in the works at 1640 Bloor St. W.
Residents will now have two No Frills locations in the area to choose from, with the other being located roughly 1.5 kilometres away at Lansdowne Ave. and Dundas St. W.
This isn't the first time a Loblaws store has been converted to a No Frills. Back in 2024, a Loblaws location at 720 Broadview Ave., just south of Danforth, was rebranded into a No Frills store.
In a similar instance, a Loblaw-owned Independent City Market at King and Shaw was also converted to a No Frills the same year.
Last month, Loblaws Companies Limited announced that it will spend $2.4 billion this year to expand and renovate its store network and enhance its supply chain. As a result, the company is set to open 70 new stores this year, which will include 34 Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix pharmacies and care clinics, as well as 31 hard discount No Frills and Maxi stores.
