Downtown Toronto just got a new restaurant for all-you-can-eat Chinese food

Now that Toronto's iconic Yonge and Eglinton Manarin Buffet location has closed its doors, central areas in the city are in sore need of all-you-can-eat Chinese food options, and one recently-opened restaurant serves exactly that.

It's right there in the name: the opening of Lucky House Chinese Restaurant really was a stroke of luck for residents of downtown Toronto, bringing a classic taste of Canadian-style Chinese food to the border of Queen West and the Entertainment District.

While just north of Queen West, Chinatown gleams like a Szechuan-spiced beacon leading to all the dim sum, dandan noodles and Peking duck you could possibly dream of, options are decidedly more scarce south of the major street.

Likewise, in North York, Scarborough, and beyond city limits in Markham and Richmond Hill, all-you-can-eat Chinese food is readily available, but the closer you get to Toronto's central core, the less common it becomes.

That's why Lucky House made for a particularly welcome addition to Richmond West when it officially — albeit quietly — opened its doors in the summer of 2025. Sure, it's not fresh off the presses, but it's under the radar enough to warrant a shout-out.

The restaurant took over the Richmond West space that formerly housed Sommelier Factory (which has since relocated to Mercer Street) in a uniquely quaint, former historic home. It's small, it's cozy, and, most importantly, it offers all-you-can-eat Chinese food every day of the week.

At the time of publication, all-you-can-eat runs from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. every Monday through Thursday ($30), 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. every Friday ($36) and noon to 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays ($36).

Tastier yet, Lucky House also offers all-day dim sum, chock-full of staples from har gow to bean curd rolls, alongside a lengthy menu of a la carte classics. Oh, and did I mention they're open until 4 a.m. on weekends? Very lucky, indeed.

Lucky House Chinese Restaurant is located at 304 Richmond St. W.
