An Ontario bakery with a Michelin connection was just ranked one of the best new bakeries in the world this year.
I'm unapologetically biased when it comes to my belief that Toronto is home to some of the best bakeries in the world, but another Ontario city is getting all the glory this time around, thanks to one of its newest bakehouses.
Beli, an app that allows diners to rank the restaurants they've dined at worldwide, released their 2025 ranking results, based on over 50 million user ratings, on Dec. 5, posting the results across categories like Best New Restaurant, Best New Bar and Top New Dessert, honouring the latest crop of eateries doing things right.
While Toronto — and Canada, in general — was sparsely represented on the round-up, there was one hometown hero that managed to break through.
Landing in third place on Beli's ranking of the top five new bakeries in 2025 was none other than Oakville's Tatin Bakehouse.
The blink-and-you'll-miss-it bakery, tucked away on an industrial road in the far reaches of Oakville, officially opened just over a year ago in December of 2024, helmed by pastry chef Lili Linda, the former pastry chef at Oakville's Michelin-starred Hexagon.
Nowadays, Linda is all in on Tatin — a commitment that is, if the Beli ranking is to provide any evidence, already working out.
The sleek bakery provides the perfect backdrop for Linda's almost-too-pretty-to-eat creations that run the gamut from Indonesian to French classics. Where the real magic happens, though, is when she deftly blends the two for something altogether one-of-a-kind.
Given that Tatin Bakehouse was one of the most buzzed-about bakery openings of the past year, and that it continues to draw exceptional reviews and massive crowds, it's really no wonder that Linda was able to land herself recognition among the best and brightest in the world.
Tatin Bakehouse is located at 2345 Wyecroft Rd.
