Drinkable yogurt brand recalled in Canada and here's how to get your money back

Health authorities in Canada have issued a nationwide recall of a popular yogurt drink due to a potential safety concern.

If you buy yogurt products, make sure to check your fridge, as on Nov. 22, Yoplait Canada announced the recall of the Yop Drinkable Yogurt due to extraneous material.

According to a statement issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the affected products "are being recalled from the marketplace due to possible presence of pieces of plastic."

In a statement issued on its website, Yoplait Canada said that the recall is a precaution due to a possible packaging defect that may result in plastic pieces in the drink. The company said no other products sold in Canada are affected by the recall.

So far, there have been no reported injuries associated with consuming the recalled product. However, Canadians are being urged to check if they have any of the affected products. If so, don't consume, serve, sell, or distribute it.

"Should you have purchased this product, please either discard it or return it to your local retailer for a refund," Yoplait Canada stated.

The CFIA said that it's conducting a food safety investigation, which could result in more products being recalled in the future. The agency is also verifying that the affected products are being pulled from the marketplace.

According to the agency, this is a class one recall, which means that "there is a high risk that consuming the food may lead to serious health problems or death."

The recalled drinks include packaged and individual 200-ml bottles of Yoplait Yop Drinkable Yogurt in the following flavours: Blueberry, strawberry, strawberry banana, birthday cake, vanilla, banana, raspberry, peach, yuzu mandarin, tropical, mermaid blackberry starfruit, lactose-free strawberry raspberry, and lactose-free mango.

For more information on the recall, you can contact customer service at 1 (800) 230-8103 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST.
