A popular Toronto brunch restaurant was just forced to close its doors after receiving a whopping nine health infractions.
Toronto's Liberty Village neighbourhood is, by all accounts, a brunch fanatic's dream, boasting local staples like Mildred's Temple Kitchen, School and, since 2022, the city's own location of popular Calgary-based breakfast spot OEB Breakfast Co.
Known for its unique suite of eggs Benedicts, breakfast poutines and mimosa flights, the Liberty Village location landed in the city with a major splash, before expanding its 'Six footprint with another downtown location on Toronto Street.
But the Toronto fleet has contracted once again, as OEB's first Toronto location flunked a recent health inspection, getting slapped with nine infractions and closed until further notice.

OEB's Liberty Village location was closed by DineSafe on June 19.
The report details two "crucial" infractions: "failure to protect food from contamination or adulteration" and "food premise maintained in manner permitting health hazard," as well as three "significant" and four "minor" infractions.
Among the lesser infractions were citations including failure to protect against the harbouring and breeding of "pests" and failure to remove waste "when necessary to maintain sanitary condition."
According to DineSafe, a restaurant receives an Order to Close when one or more violations that cannot be immediately corrected are observed upon inspection. When a restaurant is closed due to health infractions, it must remain so until all the infractions have been corrected, inspected, and issued a Pass Notice to reopen.
So, while this isn't necessarily the end of the road for OEB Liberty Village, it is a fork in the road, and one that comes at an otherwise auspicious time for fellow restaurants in the neighbourhood as the FIFA World Cup forges ahead due south at Toronto Stadium.
OEB is located at 125 E. Liberty St.
