Toronto just got a charming new dog-friendly craft brewery

A craft brewery, a distillery and a catering company all join forces at the same Toronto address: it sounds too good to be true, but that's exactly what's happening at 90 Cawthra Ave.

When the tap ran dry for good on stalwart Stockyards brewery People's Pint back in 2023, craft beer fanatics in the neighbourhood (of which there are plenty), the heartbreak was palpable.

Luckily, the equally loved Nickel 9 Distillery was, quite literally, right next door, churning out their own house brand of small batch spirits, but let's face it, when you're in the mood for a pint, nothing else will do.

Two years after People's Pint closed its doors, though, craft brewing has finally returned to the unit at 90 Cawthra Ave., and this time, it takes the shape of Samara Brewing Co., the city's newest dog-friendly craft brewery.

Officially opening its doors on Oct. 17, Samara is the brainchild of local craft brewer Matt Polowyk, and joins forces with its neighbours Nickel 9 and the dine-in location of catering company Stav's Corner to create a one-stop shop of sorts in the neighbourhood.

As for Samara, you can expect to sip a selection of creative original brews amid a playful, casual atmosphere that'll play host to a variety of events — they've already put on a trivia night, the unofficial "open for business" sign for any self-respecting local brewery.

Let's face it, though: when dogs are allowed inside, you've already got all the entertainment sorted out.

At the time of publication, Samara Brewing Co. is open Monday to Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
