Ontario's largest T&T Supermarket is gearing up to open in a Toronto mall

The biggest T&T Supermarket location in Ontario is gearing up to open in a Toronto mall.

The October closure of a longstanding Loblaws location in the RioCan Empress shopping centre at 5095 Yonge St. came with rumblings that an outpost of the Loblaw-owned T&T would take over the huge grocery store.

The impressive grocery store — known for its vast open atrium featuring one of the longest freestanding escalators in North America — shuttered on Oct. 25 after the City of Toronto issued building permits to transform the location into a T&T Supermarket.

Loblaw and T&T have since confirmed the transformation, announcing that the Vancouver-based Canadian Asian supermarket chain (which was acquired by Loblaw in July 2009) will soon take over the former Loblaws space.

T&T has announced that the 66,000-square-foot store will reopen under the new banner next year and become the chain's largest location in the entire province when it finally welcomes customers in Fall 2026.

Among the store's features, T&T states that this location will feature the largest bakery section in Ontario, offering over 150 varieties of baked goods.

The new T&T location is also set to feature the largest Asian beauty section in the province, offering thousands of cosmetic products from across Asia.

Other familiar offerings will also be present, like T&T's popular hot food counter, which offers prepared Asian cuisine for much lower than your typical restaurant prices.

The RioCan Empress location is one of two new Ontario T&T locations set to open in 2026, along with a new outpost in Mississauga.
