The best baguette in Toronto can be found at Goûter by RA according to U.S.-based French-language news publication French Morning, which brought its annual Best Croissant and Best Baguette competition to the city this past weekend.
It was a tight competition, with the GTA's crème de la crème participating in the grand prix.
The two-part competition, hosted at Ricarda's, included a taste-testing round where 500 tasters visited each participating bakery's station to sample their baguettes. Each tester then cast their vote, and the bakery with the most votes took home the Public's Prize.
The culinary comparison then got a professional upgrade, as chefs and food critics visited each bakery to find Toronto's best baguette. This blind taste-testing round ultimately crowned Goûter by RA the king of this flavour showdown, while another Toronto bakery, Tangssant Viennoiserie, took home the title of Best Croissant in Toronto.
Talk about a bread-winning performance.
The bakery took to Instagram to announce the news, admitting that the win has left the team "speechless." An outpouring of support and well wishes has since flooded the post's comments section.
Goûter by RA is helmed by chef Rodney Alleguede, who received Michelin-starred training in Paris, proving his golden-crusted baguette was an obvious choice for critics when it came to crowning Toronto's best.
You can sample your very own award-winning bread at Goûterby RA, located at 300 Eglinton Ave. and 34 Six Point Rd. Consider this your sign to get your hands on a baguette that's clearly earned its crust.
