An iconic European chocolate company that's already made its way into several local malls is gearing up to open its first Canadian brick-and-mortar location in Toronto.
You may still be more likely to stumble upon a Laderach location while you amble the streets of a European city than one in Canada, but the decades-old chain has made major moves towards North American expansion in the past year.
Founded in the 1960s in the small town of Glarus, Switzerland, Laderach has spent the past six decades making its name ubiquitous with luxury Swiss chocolate.
Having remained in the same family ever since its foundation, Laderach may no longer be solely produced at its original Glarus factory, but its reputation remains, spreading farther and farther across the globe.
After opening its Toronto flagship at the Eaton Centre in 2019, the chocolate chain, which currently boasts over 200 locations in 25 countries worldwide, has since expanded to six locations in Toronto and one at B.C.'s Richmond Centre.
Most recently, the chain opened a location at Sherway Gardens in August 2025, but soon the luxury Swiss chocolatier will be spreading its wings with its first Canadian street store.
Officially opening its doors at 110 Bloor St. W. on Nov. 27, Laderach's first Canadian standalone store won't exactly be a spacious one, occupying just around 1,000 sq. ft. of space, but promises to be tasty nonetheless.
Opening just in time for the holiday season, the chocolate shop will carry a full suite of its celebrated treats, from truffles and pralines to barks and bars. They've even got a collection of festive sweets for the holiday season, including one particularly decadent-looking advent calendar that retails for $109.
It'll be in good company, too, just one storefront down from fellow international dessert brand, Paris Baguette.
Laderach is just one addition to the ongoing revamp of Bloor Street's luxury retail tenants, including major upgrades to the likes of Lululemon and Tiffany & Co., and exciting newcomers like L.L. Bean.
