Toronto cafe is now serving hot chocolate in a croissant
Ever wish you could have your croissant and drink it too? One Toronto cafe and bakery is giving you the chance to do exactly that with their latest weird and wonderful creation: hot chocolate served in a croissant cup.
Kensington Market's Little Pebbles is no stranger to creating croissants that break the mold; from oversized ones weighing in at 1 kilogram, to flat ones and even some in perfectly-shaped cubes and cylinders.
Judging by their latest out-of-the-box creation — which is already getting ample attention online — they're not slowing down on the creative croissant front any time soon.
This winter, Little Pebbles is offering a wheel-shaped croissant, filled with hot chocolate and topped with a healthy dose of whipped cream for quite possibly the ultimate sweet treat experience.
CEO Sahil Garg tells blogTO that the idea for the new item came from the desire to combine two widely-loved treats into something completely unique.
"Personal love for both classic hot chocolate and french flaky croissants led us to create this indulgent and interactive delight," Sahil says; "something people could sip, pull apart, dip and enjoy!"
"The wheel croissant was perfect for holding warm hot chocolate, making every bite a mix of crispy flaky layers and rich, gooey goodness," he adds.
Clearly, the concept has resonated with more than just Little Pebbles' team, as a video recently shared by the cafe on Instagram has racked up a whopping 40,000 views in just under two days, and, Sahil tells blogTO, the demand for the cozy creation has only been on the rise.
"The response has been incredible," he says. "Right now it's a seasonal special, but due to popular demand, we are thinking of keeping it longer or bringing it back every winter time."
As of now, the Hot Chocolate Wheels are available at both of Little Pebbles' Toronto locations, and cost $8 — which, when you consider a regular, sans-croissant, hot chocolate cost $10 at the Distillery Winter Village this year, isn't such a bad deal.
Little Pebbles has locations at 160 Baldwin and 540 College.
