While Toronto has its fair share of reckless drivers and terrifying intersections, it was Barrie, Ont., that was recently named the most dangerous place to drive in the province.
A new study from Toronto-based insurance tech company, MyChoice, revealed the safest and most dangerous places to drive in Ontario. The company created a 0 - 5 scoring system by combining accident rates and driving infractions (like distracted driving and speeding), giving accidents 70 per cent of the weight and infractions 30 per cent.
With an astonishing score of 0.6, Barrie now ranks as the most dangerous city to drive in Ontario, replacing Brantford, which held the title last year. Roughly one in seven drivers (14.54 per cent) in Barrie have more than one accident on their driving record, the study shows.
Second on the list of most dangerous Ontario cities to drive in is Burlington, which received an overall score of 0.9. 14.22 per cent of drivers have more than one recorded accident, and 12.41 per cent of drivers have more than one recorded infraction.

Believe it or not, Toronto continues to rank as Ontario's safest city for driving, after earning a score of 4.6 this year. Just 6.52 per cent of drivers have more than one accident on their driving record, while 7.17 per cent of drivers have more than one infraction on their record.
Markham and Mississauga round out the top three safest cities to drive in Ontario.

MyChoice says that Toronto, Brampton and Mississauga were some cities with speed enforcement camera concentrations that boasted among the fewest police-issued speeding tickets.
"While there is some positive dynamic in certain areas, the percentage of drivers with collisions on their record in Ontario has increased from 10.78 per cent in 2024 to 11.06 per cent in 2025," reads the study.
