finch west lrt opening day

Here's what it's like to ride the TTC's new Line 6 Finch West LRT

Toronto got its first new transit line in over two decades with the Dec. 7, 2025, opening of the Finch West LRT, now officially in service as the TTC's Line 6 Finch West.

The 18-stop, 10.3-kilometre light rail line kicked off with an opening-day celebration on Sunday, and thousands of passengers showed up to get a free first ride on the LRT after years of construction delays and traffic headaches.

blogTO was on the scene to be among the first riders on the route, which serves Finch Avenue West from Keele Street to Highway 27, before turning south to the Humber College north campus.
