ttc subway closure this weekend

Huge 5.5km stretch of TTC subway will close for this entire weekend

A significant stretch of the TTC subway network will be out of commission for the entire weekend of June 21 to June 22, 2025.

The TTC has announced that it plans to suspend subway service on Line 1 Yonge-University between St. Clair West and St. Andrew stations for the duration of the coming weekend.

Subway passengers looking to make the most of the first weekend of summer 2025 will have to make do with shuttle buses throughout the outage — and you'll want to plan accordingly.

The upcoming outage is just the latest in a series of full weekend outages and early closures that the transit agency attributes to ongoing track work on the system.

The TTC announced at the start of the year that the subway network would be subject to an astounding 38 overlapping full-weekend closures in 2025 alone.

"While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the end of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete state-of-good-repair work," reads the TTC service advisory.

During the outage, Dupont, Museum, Queen's Park, St. Patrick and Osgoode stations will remain closed to all passengers, while St. Clair West and St. Andrew stations will remain open for commuters to purchase and reload fare cards or connect with surface routes.

Regular service is expected to resume in time for the start of weekday service on Monday morning.

While the closure will undoubtedly throw a wrench in people's start-of-summer plans, the TTC is advising customers of alternative routes to get around this weekend.

Routes around the closure include:

  • St. Clair West Station – Take a 512 St. Clair streetcar eastbound to St. Clair Station.
  • Queen's Park Station – Take a 506 Carlton streetcar eastbound to College Station.
  • St. Patrick Station – Take a 505 Dundas streetcar eastbound to Dundas Station.
  • Osgoode Station – Take a 501 Queen streetcar eastbound to Yonge Street and Adelaide Street West. From there, you have two options:
Option 1: Walk for approximately two minutes south to King Station.
Option 2: Walk approximately five minutes north to Queen Station.
  • Customers travelling on Line 2 can connect to Line 1 at Bloor-Yonge Station.
