Canada has 70,000 summer jobs up for grabs for people under 30

Get your resume ready — Canada has tens of thousands of jobs up for grabs this summer for young Canadians under a government initiative.

Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) aims to help youth, particularly those "who face barriers to employment," gain experience and develop skills to help them in future.

On Wednesday, Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth Marci Ien announced that 70,000 CSJ opportunities will be available this summer for young people ages 15 to 30.

"A summer job is more than just a paycheque — it's a chance for young people to gain experience, develop new skills, and explore career paths that interest them," she said. "Through Canada Summer Jobs, there are thousands of opportunities for youth to grow, contribute to their communities and build a strong foundation for their future."

Young job seekers can search for new opportunities starting April 21, 2025, on the government's Job Bank site and mobile app.

Jobs will be available in recreation, the food industry, marketing and tourism, and more.

There will also be jobs available in various high-demand and growing industries like housing construction and environmental protection, according to Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).

In the meantime, the ESDC recommends young people update their resumes and create a Job Bank account to become familiar with the site and app. It adds that new jobs will be added throughout the summer, so Canadians are encouraged to check the Job Bank regularly for updates.

The CSJ prioritizes employment opportunities that support youth with disabilities, Indigenous youth, Black and racialized youth, 2SLGBTQI+ youth, and youth in rural, remote, or official language minority communities.

"By providing all young people with equitable opportunities to develop their skills, CSJ can help them succeed in the job market," explained ESDC.

The program is delivered through the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS).
