A recall has been issued for thousands of coolers sold across Canada due to fingertip amputation and crushing hazards.
In a joint recall with U.S. company Igloo Products Corp. and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC), Health Canada announced on February 13 that it's recalling the Igloo 90-Quart Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers.
"The tow handle of the coolers can pinch consumers' fingertips against the cooler, posing fingertip amputation and crushing hazards," reads the statement.
"As of February 3, 2025, the company has received no reports of injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 12 reports of fingertip injuries, including fingertip amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations."
A complete list of the 46 recalled models can be found on Health Canada's website.

The agency urges Canadians to stop using the product immediately and not to redistribute, sell or give away the recalled item.
The recalled coolers were sold from May 2019 to February 2025. Around 47,000 units of the affected products were sold in Canada, over 1 million in the U.S., and 23,000 in Mexico.
Models that are part of the recall were manufactured before January 2024. Consumers can find out if their coolers are part of the recall by checking the date code, which is imprinted on the bottom of the cooler in a circular pattern. An arrow points to the month that it was manufactured, while the year is inside the circle.

Health Canada asks consumers to report any health or safety incidents caused by using the recalled product by filling out a Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
