The Best Tobogganing Hills in Toronto

The best tobogganing hills in Toronto make the mountains of snow more enjoyable for both sledding tots and taboozing adults. With plenty of steep inclines in our city's parks, you've got more than a few options to choose from for post-blizzard entertainment.

Here are the best tobogganing hills in Toronto.

Riverdale Park East
1

Riverdale Park East

This park is split in two by the DVP, with the east side combining perfect sledding with one of the best views of the downtown skyline. Riverdale’s wide hill provides for the most thrilling rides with its straight, steep descent.

Bickford Park

Bickford Park

You'll find three tobogganing hills here to choose from, with more gradual gradients compared to the popular nearby slopes at Christie Pits, where toboganning has since been banned. However, Bickford is still a great option and tends to be uncrowded, with gentle hills for all ages.

Cedarvale Park
3

Cedarvale Park

This hidden gem of a park in the Oakwood Village / Forest Hill neighbourhood has a few different hills. Located near the north end of the ravine, the main hill offers a wide and clear path with good steepness, though it is moderate enough for beginners.

Riverdale Park West
4

Riverdale Park West

The smaller hill of the two sides at Riverdale is on the west side. This side also has a staircase and a gentler slope for younger kids, making getting back up to the top of the hill much easier to get in as many runs as possible.

Trinity Bellwoods
5

Trinity Bellwoods

The hill at Trinity Bellwoods may be a beginner run compared to some of the other options on the list, but it's one of the more conveniently-located spots. Check it out if you're looking for a few quick runs before a day or evening spent on Queen St.

Withrow Park
6

Withrow Park

This Danforth park is another great spot on the east side. While it's still a steep hill, it's far shorter than some of the other black diamonds on this list, and also has a set of stairs on the side to make the trek up less of a work out.

Hoggs Hollow
7

Hoggs Hollow

Hoggs Hollow is one of the less daunting hills in Toronto, but it still has a decent gradient that allows you to pick up some speed. There's a metal playground at the base of the hill, but the run-out is long enough to avoid running into it.

Rennie Park
8

Rennie Park

Rennie Park at Ellis and the Queensway is the spot to embrace all things winter. There's a skating rink and a hockey pad, but Rennie Hill located on the southwest side of the park is the place to go for a relatively steep sled ride with wide open terrain.

East Lynn Park
9

East Lynn Park

East Lynn Park, which is two blocks west of Woodbine and just south of Danforth, has a perfect gentle slope for kids. It's short and relatively easy to climb back up again. There's also plenty of nearby cafes on the Danforth for an apres-tobogganing hot chocolate.

Pine Point Park
10

Pine Point Park

The hill behind Pine Point arena between Weston and Islington roads is reminiscent of the ever-popular Riverdale Park. It's a good length and steepness, but also wide with a huge run-out at the bottom.
