Ontario airports are taking off with three ranked among the best in multiple categories

Three Ontario airports were just ranked among the best in their class.

A new ranking from Skytrax has named a trio of air travel hubs in the province among the best in multiple classes.

The annual World Airport Awards are considered one of the industry's most prestigious honours, based on one of the largest global passenger satisfaction surveys. Each year, travellers from more than 100 countries evaluate over 575 airports based on factors like customer service, cleanliness and terminal comfort.

Two Ontario hubs were named among the top 10 Best Regional Airports in North America for 2026, making them the only Canadian airports to crack the list.

This year, Ottawa International Airport soared to 5th place in the rankings. The airport has seen a dip in U.S.-bound traffic this year but is reporting a considerable uptick in international travellers.

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport landed in 10th place, continuing its annual streak of high-profile recognition. It ranked among the world's most beautiful airport runways in 2025 and was named the Best Airport in Canada in 2024.

The downtown airport recently opened its new U.S. border preclearance facility and could potentially expand in the future as discussions continue around a proposed runway expansion to accommodate jets.

In addition to regional and international rankings, Skytrax also handed out nearly 100 specialized awards, including World's Cleanest Airport (New Chitose Airport in Japan, in case you're wondering) and World's Most Family Friendly Airport (Incheon International Airport in South Korea).

Toronto Pearson International Airport is the third Ontario airport to be recognized this year.

As Canada's largest and busiest airport, it handles around 46.8 million passengers a year. It's also a major employment hub, with over 400 agencies operating on-site and employing over 52,000 workers.

Despite garnering a bad rap in recent years due to complaints about delays, lost baggage, and other passenger frustrations, Toronto Pearson International Airport was awarded Best Airport Staff in North America, a sign that perhaps things are improving for the better.

Meanwhile, Vancouver International Airport picked up two major wins in the 'Best Airport in North America' and 'Best Airport Serving 20–30 Million Passengers' categories, making it the only other Canadian airport to receive honours.
