Extreme temperatures have many in Ontario hiding indoors this week, but those braving conditions in Niagara Falls are in for a real treat, as the harsh cold and omnipresent waterfall mist have combined to transform the tourist destination into a gallery of natural ice sculptures.
Temperatures have plummeted to the negative double digits across Southern Ontario, and the constant cloud of mist churned up by the thundering torrent of Niagara Falls has created perfect conditions for the formation of ice on pretty much every surface in town.
Views of ice-encased railings, light posts, trees, and buildings have already made for a magical winter by the Falls, and the impressive winterscapes forming continue to grow and morph as more mist is deposited on frozen-over ice formations.
Niagara Parks shared new views of the natural seasonal sculptures on Monday, making us all second-guess whether the extreme cold blanketing the province is a good enough excuse to stay bundled up at home.
Earlier this month, Niagara Parks shared similar views of the frozen-over landscapes, but this week's extreme weather has perhaps made for even more spectacular formations.
