A handful of Toronto hotels were just ranked among the best accommodation options available in the entire country, according to those who would know best: consumers.
The city's 1 Hotel at 550 Wellington St. W., St. Regis Hotel at Adelaide and Bay, iconic Queen West haunt The Drake Hotel, and historic Fairmont Royal York have just been recognized by Condé Nast Traveler, the esteemed U.K. magazine known for highlighting the best of the best in the travel industry.
Each year, the outlet administers a series of Readers' Choice Awards honouring the top vacation hotspots, resorts, hotels, cruises, spas, airports and more, as selected by CN Traveler's subscribers.
And, frequent flyers from the world over who read the mag have voted the aforementioned four hotels as some of the best places to stay in all of Canada.
With a score of an impressive 92 out of a potential 100, 1 Hotel took the ninth spot, flanked by two Montreal properties (Hotel William Gray in 10th, with a score of 90.12, and Hotel Nelligan in 8th, with a score of 92.39).
The St. Regis came in higher on the list, in 5th, scored at 94.59, only to be outdone by the Drake, which was named third-best coast-to-coast, with a score of 96.03.
Finally, the Fairmont, which has dominated the valuable Front Street real estate across from Union Station for nearly a century, came in second place, with a score of 98.19, coming after Vancouver's Magnolia Hotel & Spa, which was given an only slightly better 98.67 out of a potential 100.
Here's the full list for Canada, released Tuesday:
Though no Toronto establishments made the ultimate Readers' Choice Best Hotels in the World list, there were four Canadian winners, including the Metcalfe Hotel in Ottawa, which came in 23rd and was called out for its "fabulous" recent renovation and new Cocotte Bistro.
