Batelco Ad Toronto

What Toronto would be like if it was Bahrain on steroids

I suppose that's a pretty cryptic title, but it should make sense after taking a look at the video below. Although I generally avoid posting about non-vintage commercials, this one's just too good to pass up. Filmed by Alex & Steffen of Spy Films, the very obviously Toronto-set commercial is a CGI-lovers dream come true.

Along with shots of all of the city's major office towers, the subway, our multicoloured cabs and the Eaton Centre, the clip features a hefty dose of fantasy stunts and some pretty awesome action sequences. Case in point: those are some of the most ridiculous skate jumps -- digital manipulation and all -- that you'll probably ever see.

While the Toronto roots of the clip remain clear throughout, the spot was actually filmed for Batelco, a Bahrain-based telecommunications company -- which should explain the additional and very contemporary looking high rises, Arabic lettering on the TTC and the giant sand castle at the halfway point.

But, hey, if this is what a cross between Toronto and Bahrain would be like, sign me up.
