It's not uncommon for professional athletes to have hobbies outside of their sport, but there aren't many who can say they're starring in a major Hollywood film while also playing for a WNBA team.

Six-foot-five centre Temi Fagbenle isn't just making a name on the court this season for the Toronto Tempo; she's also about to appear in an upcoming Hollywood blockbuster film featuring Cynthia Erivo, Idris Elba, and Viola Davis.

Fagbenle has a supporting role in the upcoming adventure-fantasy movie based on a 2018 Afro-fantasy novel by Tomi Adeyemi called "Children of Blood and Bone."

The film tells the story of a young woman, Zélie Adebola, on a mission to retrieve magic stolen from her people in a mythical African kingdom.

Fagbenle's role in the film has not been revealed just yet, but it's rumoured to be a brand-new character who will play a major part in the story.

The 33-year-old has a close connection with the original author, Adeyemi, as they both attended Harvard University between 2011 and 2015.

If you're hoping to catch Fagbenle on the big screen, the film is scheduled to hit theatres across North America on Jan. 15, 2027.

But before then, Toronto Tempo fans will have plenty of chances to see her on the court at the Coca-Cola Coliseum.

Toronto acquired Fagbenle via free agency ahead of the franchise's inaugural WNBA season, and she's since averaged nearly seven points and four rebounds in eight games.
