Toronto impressed the world as a 2026 FIFA World Cup host city, and the surprisingly smooth execution and amazing vibes have some people wondering whether the city is ready to make the big leap to hosting the Olympics.
Toronto hosted six FIFA World Cup matches in June and July, and the electricity on city streets during that time was pretty hard to miss. But even six matches in the world's most-watched sports tournament is a minimal commitment compared to the billions of dollars in funding, new venues, and other costly infrastructure upgrades that come with an Olympic host bid.
With that in mind, blogTO hit Toronto streets to ask locals if we are ready, or even anywhere close to ready, to begin discussing a renewed Olympic bid.

The general consensus from the crowd was a resounding “no,” with people citing the cost, the lack of suitable facilities, and many other factors. In a town as cynical as Toronto, it should come as no surprise that the question was met with laughs from some.
