Toronto Raptors' newest draft pick has baby on the way
It's been an eventful last month for Toronto Raptors rookie Allen Graves.
Just a few weeks ago, the 19-year-old from Ponchatoula, La., became the newest member of the Raptors after being drafted by the team in the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft.
On Monday, Graves revealed another major life milestone: he and his wife, Malia, are expecting a baby boy due in January 2027.
"From just the two of us to a family of three. Our little boy, we can't wait to meet you," the couple's social media post reads.
The baby announcement featured an AI-generated image of a teddy bear wearing a No. 22 Toronto Raptors jersey — the number Graves will wear during his rookie season.
"We're adding Baby Graves to our roster... taking the court in January 2027," the photo read.
Graves and his wife have a lifelong love story.
The two first met in kindergarten class at Southeastern Lab School in Ponchatoula. According to Graves, he knew the day they met that she was the person he wanted to marry.
Last year, he proposed in the very same classroom where they first met.
On the court, the rookie has given Toronto fans a lot to be excited about.
The 19th overall pick was outstanding in his four NBA Summer League games, averaging 16.8 points on 51 per cent shooting, in addition to 6.8 rebounds and 2.3 steals.
When the season arrives, Toronto fans can expect Graves to be a reliable defender off the bench, providing minutes and assistance to Collin Murray-Boyles.
