It isn't just Toronto Blue Jays fans who are upset with the way this team has played through the first 62 games of the season.
After falling one game short of a World Series title in 2025, the Blue Jays were expected to be a very competitive team once again in 2026. Instead, they sit third in the AL-East with a disappointing 29-33 record.
Part of the issue is the amount of injuries they've been forced to deal with. Their starting pitching has been banged up all season long, and is undoubtedly part of the reason as to why they're struggling. That said, there's far more to blame than just injuries.
This team has been making mistakes through 62 games that we didn't see much in 2025, particularly over the second half of the season. What's frustrating is that they are completely preventable mistakes.
Partway through Wednesday night's game, which resulted in a 7-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves, Sportsnet analyst Caleb Joseph had seen enough and went into a fiery rant that seems to have resonated well with the fan base.
"That ball's got to be caught," Joseph said after Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Brandon Valenzuela were unable to catch a pop-out in foul territory. "That ball has to be caught by somebody. These are the inches that the Blue Jays are giving up from time to time, and this is why they're not consistent."
That was just the beginning for Joseph, who made it clear that this team isn't playing anywhere close to a championship level right now.
"If you want to be a good team, if you want to get to where you're going, you have to make these types of plays. You can't let balls drop in front of you; you've got to catch every ball. You've got to get it together.
"These are the types of plays that did not happen a year ago. I know you've got to turn the page, I know you've got to flush it, but at some point somebody's got to get in that dugout and say 'Enough is enough. We've got to pick it up and get it going. Tighten it up.'"

The Blue Jays seemed like they were rounding a corner in late May, as they were able to bring their record back to .500 at 29-29. They've since followed that up with four straight losses.
"I loved to hear it because it's what we were all thinking," one fan chimed in on X.
Many others agreed wholeheartedly with Joseph as well.
"That was such a good and truthful rant," another user wrote. "Can someone please provide the audio to Mr. Schneider for him to provide to his team."
While he doesn't deserve the entirety of the blame, a major issue this season has been Guerrero's play.
The 27-year-old slugger has hit just three home runs through 60 games, while also being on pace to post career lows in slugging percentage and OPS. If the Jays are to turn things around, they need him to play significantly better.
The Jays will look to get things going on Thursday night versus the Braves, before welcoming the Baltimore Orioles for a three-game homestand beginning on Friday.
