Brazilian soccer legend Ronaldinho is coming to play Toronto FC

One of soccer's all-time greats will be taking the pitch at BMO Field in less than two months' time.

Some of Toronto FC's greatest ever will take on Brazil in the inaugural Living Legends match on May 8. And, for the first time ever, Ronaldinho will be a part of the action.

The event, described as "a one-night only showcase celebrating Canadian soccer and its contributions to the beautiful game," will also feature several other notable names, including Brazil legends Adriano, Emerson, and Maicon. Toronto FC will have several notable representatives as well, including Sebastian Giovinco, Jozy Altidore, Julian de Guzman, and Dwayne De Rosario.

This match is helping build excitement for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which includes two Canadian host cities in Toronto and Vancouver.

"Toronto is ready for a moment like this," says Diogo Snow, co-founder of Living Legends. "Bringing Brazilian legends to this city together with Toronto FC's legends and creating something special for the fans is what this is all about. Football has an incredible ability to connect people, and this match celebrates the players and the culture that shaped the game."

While the entire event is one for fans to look forward to, there's no denying that having Ronaldinho as part of the action brings the excitement to an entirely different level.

The 45-year-old, who enjoyed a professional career spanning nearly two decades, is widely considered one of the best soccer players of all time. He is a two-time FIFA World Player of the Year winner, and also won the Ballon d'Or in 2005 while starring for Barcelona.

"I've played in many cities around the world, but this will be my first time playing at BMO Field in Toronto," Ronaldinho said. "I've heard a lot about the passion for football here, so I'm excited to experience the energy of the fans and to share a special night of football with them."

Tickets for this event will be available through Ticketmaster, with single seats starting at $45. Pre-sale for Toronto FC season ticket holders will begin on March 11, while general public ticket sales will start on March 12.
