Toronto launches FIFA ticket lottery and you could attend games for as little as $26

There's still a chance to land tickets for the upcoming FIFA World Cup games in Toronto.

After plenty of ticket lotteries run by FIFA, which saw north of 150 million fans enter in just a 15-day span, many fans hoping to attend games are still looking to score tickets.

There's been plenty of frustration for those who waited long for the chance to enter the lottery, only to come up short. Perhaps sensing some of the frustration for those who haven't landed tickets, the City of Toronto is providing another opportunity.

The City of Toronto announced on Wednesday that it will be giving Ontario residents aged 18 and older the chance to win an invitation for two to a FIFA World Cup match.

There will be 26 pairs of invitations available, two of which will include Canada's opening match in Toronto on Friday, June 12. Those looking to enter the lottery will need to purchase tickets, which will come in the following price points:

  • $26 for five entries
  • $50 for 10 entries
  • $150 for 50 entries
  • $260 for 100 entries

Those who are willing to fork up $260 will also receive a premium World Cup scarf, which will be delivered after the draw is made.

The entry for this draw is already open and will continue until March 15. The grand prize draw is set to take place on March 27. There is also an early bird draw, which fans can sign up for until March 3. The early bird prize will include tickets to the previously mentioned Canadian match on June 12. That draw will take place on March 17.

The FIFA World Cup is set to begin on June 11 and will continue through to July 19. It is being hosted in Canada, the U.S.A., and Mexico. The host cities in Canada will be Vancouver and Toronto, with the former hosting seven games while the latter will host six.
