More changes are coming to Toronto's BMO Field once the 2026 FIFA World Cup wraps up.
If you've attended one of the four tournament matches at the stadium so far, you've probably noticed something missing: all of the BMO Field signage.
The venue was required to remove or cover branding from companies that are not official FIFA sponsors during the tournament. But once the World Cup ends, the signage around the stadium will look a little bit different.
Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) are planning to make several permanent upgrades to the stadium, outlined in a recent signage permit application filed with the City of Toronto.

The six BMO Field signs removed for the tournament will be replaced with illuminated, overhanging signs. An additional electronic sign will also reportedly be installed along the upper roof edge above the north scoreboard.
The stadium's temporary north and south grandstands, which increased capacity by more than 17,000 seats for the World Cup, will also be removed, and BMO Field will return to its regular capacity of 28,180.
BMO Field is the smallest of the 16 venues hosting matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. All host stadiums were required to have a capacity of 40,000 to host group stage matches.

According to the City of Toronto, work on the stadium is expected to begin on July 22 and be completed before Toronto FC returns home in mid-August.
When Major League Soccer resumes after the international break, Toronto FC will open the second half of its season on the road before returning to BMO Field to host the New England Revolution on Aug. 15.
