Toronto Blue Jays fans across the country won't be forgetting about Ernie Clement's recent playoff heroics anytime soon.
The 29-year-old became a household name after his postseason performance, one in which he hit a pristine .411 with a home run and nine RBI through 18 games. His 30 hits set a postseason MLB record, and were one of the biggest reasons as to why the Blue Jays were just one win shy of capturing the World Series.
His superb showing won't just be remembered by Canadians for years to come.
Clement's hometown of Monroe County, N.Y. recognized the Blue Jays infielder this past weekend while he was attending an event with the MiLB's Rochester Red Wings. On top of being given a key to the city, Clement learned that his town had proclaimed Nov. 29, 2025 as "Ernie Clement Day."
"Ernie, we are incredibly proud of you, and you represented your hometown so well on the world stage,” Monroe County executive Adam Bello said. "You have made our community incredibly proud.
"Known as a beacon of positivity in the Toronto Blue Jays clubhouse, you carry the spirit of your hometown onto the field, inspiring teammates and fans alike."

"I grew up going to Rochester Red Wings games. This will always be home," Clement said. "I'm truly honoured. I'm just grateful, man. There's so many great people here in Rochester, and like I said, this is home forever. Thank you guys."
Clement has spent the past three seasons with the Blue Jays organization, establishing himself as more of an everyday player in 2024. The 2025 season, however, saw him appear in a career-high 157 games, where he hit .277 with nine home runs and 50 RBI.
He will be counted on to play a big role for what is expected to be another great Blue Jays team in 2026.
