Entertainment complex with bowling and laser tag to open in Ontario mall

Entertainment chain Playdium is set to open its fifth location within a popular suburban Ontario mall next summer.

Parent company Cineplex announced on Monday that construction is already underway at its new Playdium location coming to the Vaughan Mills shopping centre at Highway 400 and Rutherford Rd. in Vaughan, and revealed an anticipated summer 2026 opening for the entertainment centre.

Playdium's Vaughan Mills location is set to feature over 70 games and activities, including duckpin bowling, wall climbing, and a ropes course. Another standout feature of the 24,000 square foot attraction is the 'Gel Blasters Nexus,' described as a combination of laser tag and paintball.

And, of course, a day at a Playdium location wouldn't be complete without a bite to eat. The new attraction will boast a mix of quick-service eats like nachos, burgers, pizza, fries, poutine, along with desserts and more hearty options.

"Opening next summer, Playdium Vaughan Mills is the ultimate playground, with more attractions under one roof than any other Playdium in Canada," said Ellis Jacob, President and CEO, Cineplex.

"Located in the heart of a vibrant, fast-growing community, we're creating a destination where friends and families can build lasting memories while enjoying an incredible range of immersive attractions, amusement games and great food."

Joanne Ross, Ontario Vice President of Retail Property Management at JLL Canada calls the addition to the mall a reflection of the company's "commitment to creating spaces where people from near and far can come together for shopping, dining, and now, unforgettable fun."

The announcement comes more than four years after the closure of the massive Playdium Mississauga, and follows closely on the heels of the recently opened 22,000-square-foot location at Toronto's CF Fairview Mall.
