Dodgers star gets booed out of Toronto kids hospital in hilarious new commercial

Toronto Blue Jays fans don't appear to have forgiven the Los Angeles Dodgers just yet – even if it's for a good cause.

The Dodgers, as you surely know by now, broke just about all of Canada's collective hearts last month when they topped the Blue Jays in an epic seven-game World Series.

And one of the heroes for the Dodgers in that series was Freddie Freeman, hitting a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 18th inning of a long Game 3.

Given that Freeman represents Canada internationally in baseball due to his Canadian parents' roots, he'd usually be a natural pick for many Canadian commercials.

But in a recent holiday spot for SickKids hospital (alongside none other than Ryan Reynolds), Freeman didn't exactly get the warmest of receptions.

Entering a room full of kids wearing Blue Jays merchandise, Freeman got the cold shoulder and a few not-so-nice comments.

"What a loser!" one kid quipped, while another told him he had "some nerve coming here." He was eventually booed out of the room with a "let's go Blue Jays!" chant.

The ad spot noted that all donations to SickKids over the next few weeks – and leading up to Christmas Eve on Dec. 24 – will be matched by an anonymous donor for up to $1 million. Donations can be made at sickkidsfoundation.com.

While the ad was an obvious setup, the sentiment of a newfound rivalry with the defending back-to-back World Series Champions certainly remains.

For Freeman, however, he'll have a chance to earn some goodwill for Canada at next year's World Baseball Classic, where he's expected to be one of the key pieces in the preseason tournament taking place in March. But for the time being, you can expect to see some friendly ribbing (or maybe not-so-friendly) any time he's spotted north of the border.
