Blue Jays were literally inches away from World Series glory in Toronto

So close.

The Toronto Blue Jays came agonizingly close to winning the World Series in Game 7 on Saturday night.

After giving up a game-tying home run in the top of the ninth inning, the Blue Jays nearly scored a walk-off win in the bottom half of the inning.

With the bases loaded and just one out, a Daulton Varsho ground ball nearly scored Isiah Kiner-Falefa from third.

The throw from Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Miguel Rojas beat Kiner-Falefa home, but catcher Will Smith didn't have hit foot on the plate. The play was so close that it went to a video review.

But as Kiner-Falefa slid towards home, Smith got his foot down just in time.

The Blue Jays were inches away from being crowned champions.

The next batter, Ernie Clement, nearly won it too. He hit a ball to the warning track, causing two Dodgers outfielders to collide before Andy Pages made the incredible catch.

The game went to extra innings, with the Dodgers coming out on top.

Despite outscoring the Dodgers 34-26 in the series, it's a painful loss for the Blue Jays, who are still looking for their first World Series championship since 1993.
