Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage just got engaged to cap off life-changing year for rookie

It turns out that Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Trey Yesavage will get a ring this year after all.

Yesavage's longtime girlfriend, Taylor Frick, shared a photo set on Instagram of the two getting engaged on a beach on Thursday.

We're not exactly sure where the duo got engaged, but we do have a decent guess. Frick, a Maryland native, and Yesavage, a Pennsylvania local, met while in college together in Greenville, North Carolina.

The pair were at East Carolina University homecoming last weekend, so it's possible they were at a beach somewhere in the Carolinas. And given that Yesavage is wearing long sleeves and pants, it suggests they're not exactly in the warmest of November climates.

Given that the MLB season is long, arduous, and takes up much of the summer months, Yesavage and Frick might have to target the MLB All-Star weekend if they want to tie the knot during peak wedding season.

But given the way that Yesavage has been playing, it seems safer to assume that they'll have to schedule something that avoids that weekend, and perhaps miss out on October too next year, just to be safe in case of another long playoff run for the Blue Jays.

It's been quite the year for the 22-year-old Yesavage, who is a little over two months removed from his MLB debut. After just three regular-season starts, he was thrust into a role as one of Toronto's key starters for the playoff run.

And while few players ever have been tasked with such a massive responsibility that early into their pro career, he seemed to thrive under pressure, setting multiple Blue Jays franchise and MLB records along the way. He's still technically eligible for American League Rookie of the Year next season, despite already being a household name across the MLB.
