Depending on where you live, you can score free tickets to Toronto's FIFA Fan Festival this week as the World Cup continues to take over the city.
It seems the City of Toronto is offering local residents a bit of a consolation prize for those who weren't so lucky to grab free tickets when the first two batches were sold out in mere hours.
The Bentway, a soccer hotspot hosting portions of the FIFA Fan Festival, announced on Instagram that free FIFA Fan Festival tickets will be up for grabs "for neighbours to enjoy down at 250 Fort York Blvd."
A total of 1,100 tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. The only catch is that those hoping to snag the freebies must be residents of either Fort York or Liberty Village.
"These free tickets are allocated specifically to residents in Liberty Village and Fort York in recognition of the impacts of the FIFA World Cup and related initiatives, such as increased activity, road restrictions, and event operations," a City of Toronto representative tells blogTO.
They went on to mention that this move is part of an initiative to "support equitable community access to FIFA Fan Festival."
The giveaway will take place on Wednesday, June 24 at 3 p.m. Interested residents must follow The Bentway's official Instagram account and, if they receive tickets, provide proof of residency on-site. A maximum of two tickets will be allotted per household.
Tickets will be assigned at random, and this time, guests will not be able to choose which Fan Fest day they attend. The available dates are July 2, July 4, July 5, July 11, and July 14.
Although the FIFA Fan Festival started off with a bit of a shoddy reputation, with unexpected weather-related cancellations, it's become a major hub for soccer fans wanting to immerse themselves in the World Cup fever taking over Toronto right now.
Fort York and Liberty Village residents can head to The Bentway at 55 Fort York Blvd. on June 24 for a chance to score free FIFA Fan Festival tickets.
