Toronto Blue Jays rookie phenom Yesavage has been living in hotels and out of truck

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Trey Yesavage has been excelling in the playoffs despite a rather tumultuous living situation.

The 22-year-old, who pitched in five separate leagues this season, made his Blue Jays debut on Sept. 15 versus the Tampa Bay Rays. He's become a fixture of the rotation since, which has included three starts in the postseason, during which time he's racked up 22 strikeouts through 15 innings of work.

Not only has the young budding star shown great mental strength to pitch so well in high stakes, but he's also been able to do it despite not having a permanent residence in Toronto.

Yesavage, who will start Game 1 of the World Series versus the LA Dodgers, told Blue Jays reporters on Thursday morning that he's been bouncing around different hotels in Toronto since first joining the roster.

"You should see my truck right now. It looks like a mobile home," Yesavage joked. "I'm changing hotel rooms every time we leave and come back. I've had to consolidate and only bring necessities in my suitcase with me."

Despite the rather stressful living situation, Yesavage has no complaints. He's quickly turned into a very trusted arm in the Jays' rotation, and is thrilled to be making the biggest start of his life on Friday evening.

"Got back to my hotel room. First call was to my girlfriend," Yesavage said upon learning he was going to start the opening game. "Had to get a flight in line for her to come and see it. Second call was to my parents, had to let them know. Sleep last night was not easy."

The Jays haven't announced their rotation for the following outings, though Kevin Gausman and Shane Bieber seem likely to get the ball in Games 2 and 3, respectively. As for Yesavage, he will be looking to put on a show for a fan base that hasn't seen their team play in the World Series since 1993.
