sportsnet outage world series

Poorly-timed Sportsnet outage during World Series game enrages Canada

Toronto Blue Jays fans were all fired up on Tuesday night as their team picked up a massive win.

Taking to the field at Dodger Stadium, the Blue Jays picked up a 6-2 victory to tie the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers at two games apiece.

But for many of the millions of fans trying to watch the game, they ran into an issue that might've fired them up for different reasons: their Sportsnet+ streaming account's feed of the game suddenly stopped working, leaving many fans without a reliable way to watch the game, or at least requiring them to frantically find a new stream.

Rogers Communications, which owns the team's primary broadcaster in Sportsnet, has also been the Blue Jays' owner since 2004.

The reaction wasn't exactly positive, with many fans also referring to the recent 30 per cent price hike this past summer of the streaming service.

"We are aware that certain Sportsnet+ customers are currently experiencing an issue streaming content," a message on Sportsnet.ca read, while also offering up an alternative link for free for the game.

In an email statement, a Sportsnet spokesperson described the issue as "brief" and "resolved". No reason was given for the outage.

Much like the Blue Jays had less than 24 hours to turn things around from a Game 3 loss, Sportsnet will have less than 24 hours to figure out any possible lingering issues on their end.

The Blue Jays and Dodgers are back to action on Wednesday night, taking to the field at 8 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT. Trey Yesavage will be on the mound for Toronto, while Blake Snell will get the ball for Los Angeles.

The World Series trophy will be handed out at Rogers Centre in Toronto, either in Game 6 on Friday or Game 7 on Saturday.
