carney trump toronto blue jays world series

Here's what Carney told Trump after Toronto Blue Jays clinched World Series berth

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has been hyping up the Toronto Blue Jays to Donald Trump.

Less than 24 hours after the Blue Jays punched their ticket to the World Series, Carney was stopped by a Canadian Press journalist on Tuesday morning to get his thoughts. The Prime Minister is an avid sports fan and was visibly excited to answer a question about the Jays.

He praised George Springer's late-game heroics and said he had recently told the U.S. President that the Jays would be coming to America for the World Series.

"It was fantastic. Springer coming through on one knee. It was an absolutely amazing game, super pumped for the World Series," Carney said. "As I told the President in the U.S., we're gonna be coming down there for that, so it's fantastic."

This will be the first time the Blue Jays will compete in the World Series since winning back-to-back titles in 1992 and 1993 against the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies, respectively.

Carney was asked what he remembers about the last time that Toronto won it all.

"Just the elation of a similar home run," Carney said, alluding to Joe Carter's famous walk-off home run.

The opponent this time around will be a budding evil empire in the LA Dodgers. The Jays went 1-2 against the Dodgers in three games this regular season, with the last matchup coming back in early August.

The LA Dodgers team is stacked with superstar talent with a pitching rotation featuring Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and perhaps the best player to ever lace 'em up in Shohei Ohtani, who can also hurt you offensively.

It'll be as entertaining a World Series as there has been in recent years, and a lot of national pride is on the line. Carney will almost certainly be cheering on the Blue Jays throughout the series, as will millions of Canadians across the country.
