Canada's Wonderland shares huge update on new record-breaking coaster

The new flagship attraction at Canada's Wonderland appears to be on the cusp of opening, and despite delays and a missed spring debut, excitement for the record-breaking launch coaster is still flying high.

On July 1, Wonderland shared a new update on the status of its hotly anticipated AlpenFury launch coaster, which will soon become longest, tallest and fastest launch coaster in the country, boasting more inversions than any other roller coaster in North America.

The park posted a video update highlighting the first test runs for AlpenFury, giving future riders a taste of the adrenaline-spiked experience awaiting parkgoers.

In this latest "Launch Report" video, Wonderland social media manager Nina Kozlowska explains that "AlpenFury has finally come to life with its first few test runs."

"Over the last few months, our crews have been hard at work, and AlpenFury has finally come to life with its first few test runs."

Kozlowska explains that "testing and commissioning have officially begun, and there's a lot that goes into bringing this coaster to life. Every system from the energy storage to the launch controls has been brought online."

The new launch coaster is being joined by immersive theming surrounding the attraction, forming a permanent winter village area known as Alpenfest.

"As testing continues on AlpenFury, the area around Alpenfest is transforming. The station, the plaza, the tunnel; it's all coming together."

Despite the impressive progress witnessed in recent weeks, Wonderland remains tight-lipped about an official opening date for the ride.

The park previously announced that AlpenFury would open in spring, though, with July now upon us, parkgoers are instead hoping for an imminent summer opening.
