Opening day for Canada's Wonderland's 2025 season is right around the corner, but that's not the only thing thrill-seekers are amped about for the spring and summer ahead, as the theme park's record-breaking new coaster is quickly taking shape.
A quintessential element of any southern Ontario resident's summer, Canada's Wonderland is gearing up for opening day on Wednesday, May 8, kicking off yet another season of hair-raising thrills and fun under the sun.
While you'll be able to lock in to fan-favourites like Behemoth and Leviathan, you'll have to wait a little bit longer for the park's most ambitious project yet, as construction on Wonderland's latest coaster, AlpenFury, continues. But it's not all bad news.
On April 30, the park took to X to assure avid park-goers that the coaster's construction is running smoothly, sharing a video showing the tophat, which is the highest point on the ride, getting put into place.
After showing the milestone, the video then pans out to reveal both of the coaster's tracks twining their way around, above and through Wonder Mountain, appearing impressively far along the building schedule.
#AlpenFury just hit a major milestone, and it’s TOWERING! 🤯

The #tophat, the highest point of the ride is locked in and the view from up there? UNREAL. 🤩 💙🧡 #CanadasWonderland #LaunchCoaster #RollerCoaster #BTS #Drone #Toronto pic.twitter.com/S7srxLSQ82
Once open, AlpenFury will claim the title of being Canada's tallest, longest, and fastest launch coaster, shooting riders along the track at a top speed of 115 km/h, with a 154 ft. drop for good measure.
If that wasn't enough to get you amped up (or, if you're anything like me, make your stomach churn), the ride also features a whopping nine inversions; the most on any launch coaster in the entire world.
The theme park also offered an early preview of the whizzy trains mounted on the ride.
Two trains. Two sides. One epic ride.

The duelling coaster concept allows riders to opt for either the fire (orange) or ice (blue) team, strap into a sled-like ride vehicle of the corresponding colour, and race the opposing team up breathtaking highs, around rip-roaring inversions and literally inside the iconic Wonder Mountain.
The official opening date for Alpen Fury has yet to be announced, but this latest development is certainly making it seem like it'll be ready sooner rather than later.
