A classic fall tradition returns to Toronto this week, as Runway Reels prepares for another season of movies and entertainment at YZD Hangar on the former Downsview airport lands.
This year, Runway Reels at the Hangar goes beyond what Toronto residents have grown to love — it's more than just an open-air movie night on the weekends.
The 2026 edition brings both films and live entertainment to the former airport, creating what organizers call "shared experiences" for attendees under the stars.
Every movie night will begin with a performance presented by Small World Music, a not-for-profit charitable organization that aims to shine a light on cultural diversity through music.
Each week, the pre-show will feature acts by live musicians, drag artists, and DJs, with performances tied to the theme of the featured film that night.
The event will transform the hangar into an al fresco movie theatre for four weekends, with new movies every Friday and Saturday. Guests can expect everything from cult classics to freaky flicks that will set the mood for spooky season.
The event kicks off Oct. 2 and runs until Oct. 24. The pre-show starts at 6:30 p.m., with screenings beginning at sunset each night.
Runway Reels will feature the following films at the YZD Hangar all month long:
The event is free, but you must register to reserve your spot. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and cushions for a more comfortable viewing experience. Concessions will also be available on-site at an additional cost.
Runway Reels will take place at the YZD Hangar, located at 10 Hanover Rd.
