You can skate in your underwear beneath a Toronto highway this month

The Bentway's annual cold-weather ritual, the Polar Bear Skate, returns this month, allowing guests to strip down to their underwear for an extra-frigid skate beneath Toronto's Gardiner Expressway.

Part of The Bentway's annual Winter at The Bentway program, the Polar Bear Skare is a unique way to say goodbye to 2025, marking the end of another year in (cheeky) style.

This one-day event is for all ages — a legal guardian must be present with patrons under 18 — and each guest must sign a waiver before participating.

And it's all for a good cause, too. Guests can bring new or gently used pairs of shoes to donate to New Circles Community Services. Although shoes are currently in high demand, visitors can also bring clothes to donate.

The Polar Bear Skate takes place on Dec. 28 at 1 p.m. On-site registration opens at 12 p.m. The event runs rain or shine and will be cancelled only if the temperature dips below -20 degrees C.

The skating experience is free of charge, and guests can rent skates on-site for $12.99 for adult sizes.

The Polar Bear Skate takes place at The Bentway, located at 250 Fort York Blvd.
