Queen's Park view one of the Top 10 Endangered Places

The Heritage Canada Foundation has listed the threatened and currently clear view of Queen's Park on University Avenue on its Top 10 Endangered Places [pdf] list.

A project by Menkes Development Ltd. would see the construction of two condos on the Four Seasons property at 21 Avenue Road, directly north of Queen's Park. The condos would be visible behind the Legislative Assembly, which the HCF says would ruin the "iconic silhouette" of the view.

What? The silhouette of a historic building with glass towers jutting behind it isn't iconic?

A private member's bill was tabled in June to prevent the construction of any structure visible behind the legislature from Queen and University. The bill will be debated in legislature in the fall.
