This Week in Fashion: Target reveals brands and designer collections, MIDNIGHT MRKT, Guilty Pleasures brunch, Mint Boutique spring preview

This Week in Fashion rounds up the week's style news, store openings and closings, pop-up shops, sales and upcoming fashion and design events in Toronto. Find it here every Wednesday morning.

NEWS

Last Friday, Target revealed the brands and designers that Canadian stores will carry in the spring. Along with ongoing home collections by Nate Berkus and cosmetics by Sonia Kashuk, there'll also be collections available for a limited time - much like Target's popular Rodarte and Missoni collaborations. Roots is designing a men's, women's, and children's line to be available until June 2013, and Kate Young will bring exclusive womenswear between April 14 until May 31st.

EVENTS

Though it may seem like Toronto's already got a handful of monthly eclectic markets going on (like 101 Markets and the Junction Flea), there's no harm done in adding another to the roster. The first edition of the MIDNIGHT MRKT - happening this Friday (February 1st) - is pretty much a party involving drinks and beats by Neoteric, Lucie Tic, and Johnny Hockin. Dance and shop with Bevstmode, Diptych Vintage, and many more from 8 pm until 2 am on the second floor of 461 King Street West.

On Saturday (February 2nd), the Drake Hotel (1150 Queen St W) and Toronto Fashion Incubator are coming together once again to host the ninth annual Guilty Pleasures brunch. Along with a three-course meal featuring mimosas and mouth-watering Drake Hotel favourites, guests can also delight in local design talent through the pop-up sales and silent auction. Entrance is $38 and the sittings start at 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm - so email specialevents@thedrakehotel.ca for reservations.

Tomorrow night (January 31st), The Black Box Boutique (106 Yorkville Ave, 2nd floor) is hosting a meet-and-greet with Ana Bogdanovic - the jewellery designer behind M.W.L. Along with a chance to view her collections, guests will see Bogdanovic live in action, creating custom pieces in-store. Plus, you'll receive 15% off M.W.L. when you purchase any full price item from The Black Box Boutique.

Mint Boutique (6 Rack House Mews) - a new shop in the Distillery District carrying women's clothing and home dĂŠcor - is throwing a three-day string of events to celebrate its grand opening. Throughout the weekend (February 8 to 10), the store will feature daily specials and offer a Spring 2013 preview with brands like Theodora & Callum, 7 for all Mankind, Shoshanna, and more.

Miracle Thieves is holding another instalment of Walk-In Closet, this time hosted by stylist Courtney Madison (Total Recall, Suits), from February 1 to 3 (Friday and Saturday beginning at 11 a.m., and Sunday beginning at noon). It's the ultimate opportunity to peek (and shop) behind the closed closet doors of a style inspiration.

SALES

Gravity Pope - a Vancouver favourite and Toronto's newest massive unconventional shoe and clothing store - is extending their 20% off sale until February 8th. The discount only applies to previously marked down items, but is going on both online and in-store.
