Toronto influencer slams hyped new restaurant after dining experience

A recently-opened Toronto restaurant is the subject of much buzz on the city's food scene, but for one influencer, the hype is way overblown.

It was a long time coming when global Greek restaurant empire, Estiatorio Milos, finally opened the doors of their Toronto location just in time for celebrity guests to see and be seen at the restaurant during TIFF.

The Montreal-based restaurant, which boasts locations across the world from Singapore to NYC, is something of a Nobu for Greek food, serving up the freshest of fresh seafood, shareable meze and hearty family-style mains, which have earned the restaurant a sparkling reputation (plus Michelin nods for some locations) over its 45-year reign.

While you're unlikely to score a table at the restaurant any time soon, those Toronto residents most keen to get a taste of Chef Costas Spiliadis' celebrated cuisine have begun to share their reviews and, despite most being positive, it seems as though not everyone is gushing over their experience.

One Toronto-based content creator recently took to TikTok to bemoan her meal Estiatorio Milos, calling it the "worst dining experience in Toronto."

"As I'm sure you've heard, Milos has opened its first Toronto location, and I was so excited 'cuz I've heard nothing but amazing things about this restaurant from Montreal," the creator, who goes by the username @so_rhidiculous, says in the video.

"Unfortunately for us, it did not live up to the hype," she adds.

She later goes on to explain that, even after being seated at her table for an hour, she and her dining partner had only received a bread basket and were still waiting on the food they ordered.

Once the food arrived, she gave props to the Milos Special, which is (a towering pile of fried zucchini and eggplant), but later warns against ordering the Lobster Pasta.

"Huge mistake," she says. "I actually started to not feel so great after."

According to the video, the final price of the meal came in at a whopping $400, with the Lobster Pasta costing around $200 alone — a tab that, according to this content creator, was simply not worth it.

At the time of publication, Estiatorio Milos' Toronto location currently boasts a 4-star rating on Google out of nearly 50 reviews, with feedback ranging from "exceptional," to "just okay," to "shockingly sub-mediocre," so the curious will simply have to splurge on a meal there to find out for themselves. If you can get a reservation, that is.
