Since the official start of spring, the weather in Toronto has been anything but stable, from frigid wind chills to thunderstorms and even daytime highs reaching the mid-teens, and that instability is expected to continue this week.
While the start of the week has already brought relatively pleasant temperatures, a sharp cooldown will be sweeping in just before the weekend. By Thursday, conditions are expected to take a turn, with heavy rain moving in and a morning low of 1 C (which will feel closer to -5 C with the wind).
According to The Weather Network's 7-day forecast, temperatures will only slightly recover through the day, climbing to around 4 C by the afternoon before yet another rapid shift sets in.
By Friday morning, the cloudy skies and lingering showers will stick around, but temperatures are expected to improve dramatically just in time for the long weekend. By the afternoon, Toronto could see a high of 19 C, which will feel closer to 20 C with the sunshine.
Mild temperatures are expected to hold into the evening, hovering around the 14 C mark before things take another turn.
On Saturday morning, showers will likely return and bring temperatures back down to around 10 C, followed by an even cooler high of 7 C on Sunday.
Before the cold front moves through southern Ontario and the GTA this week, thunderstorms are expected to develop in the region between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Tuesday. According to The Weather Network, some areas could see rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm, with higher totals possible in certain communities.
The weather channel warns that conditions throughout April in Toronto will be anything but stable, with brief bursts of warm weather interrupted by recurring cool spells.
