I hope you enjoyed that brief taste of spring weather in Ontario this past weekend, because a taste is all we're going to get, as another potentially significant snowstorm looms just around the corner.
Toronto temperatures climbed to a balmy 17 degrees C on Saturday, March 7, but that early blast of warm weather may prove to be just a small reprieve from the harsh winter conditions Ontario residents have faced this season.
Meteorologists expect the party to end with a mix of snow and freezing rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the potential for this system to manifest as an ice storm, bringing chaos on roads and power outages.
But it's another potential storm looming one week on the horizon that could give locals a rude awakening after a false spring.
There is some divergence between North American and European weather models, but the latter suggests a major system will slam through the region on March 16 with sub-zero temps and the chance of significant snowfall, potentially even soaring into the 30-centimetre+ range.
Don’t be fooled by the warmth we are currently experiencing — winter is not over yet. The snowstorm signal has remained consistent and has strengthened notably in recent runs. There is a prominent signal for a strong snowstorm around the 16th timeframe, as mentioned previously.… https://t.co/akXUfjaGPG pic.twitter.com/tUkU8Wp6pB

Even if Ontario is spared from another blast of winter, the week leading up to this potential storm is looking messy to say the least.
