It looks like we won't be getting much of a breather from the recent streak of winter storms, with yet another system threatening Ontario after Wednesday's deep freeze that left much of the province essentially encased in a layer of slushy ice.
Meteorologists forecast another storm on the way for Friday, with parts of Eastern Ontario, including the Ottawa Valley, likely to receive as much as 25 centimetres of snow to wrap up the work week.
The Weather Network (TWN) says we're in for yet another rain-to-snow switch similar to what we've experienced earlier this week. The GTA and surrounding areas can expect rain to turn to freezing rain before changing over to snow.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has a similarly grim forecast for Toronto on Friday, with rain to switch over to snow around noon, and a chance of freezing rain later in the day.
Looking ahead, there's a 30 to 40 per cent chance of flurries on both Saturday and Sunday, though temperatures will stay above zero with a high of plus 3 degrees on Saturday and a high of plus 1 degree on Sunday.
Although TWN says "not everyone will get the full experience," Eastern Ontario — including Ottawa, Kingston and Cornwall — is expected to receive the most snow, where colder air is forecast to remain more stable and allow snow to pile up.
According to Instant Weather Ontario, the cities at greatest risk for freezing rain look to be Orangeville and Shelburne, extending into the southern parts of Central and Eastern Ontario.

We’re keeping a close eye on a complex system that’s expected to sweep through the region on Friday and bring yet another messy mix of precipitation.

"Other model solutions suggest more ice pellets or even snow instead of freezing rain in some of those same areas," the statement reads. The speed and reach of the cold air will ultimately determine how widespread the snowfall is on Friday.
If anyone else is counting, there are just 29 more days until spring, so it's just a matter of hanging in there a little bit longer.
