filmores gentlemans club closure toronto

Iconic Toronto strip club closing after 45 years to make way for more condos

The trend of Toronto businesses being forced to close to make room for condominium developments continues into 2026, as Filmores Gentlemen's Club announces it will shutter after 45 years in operation ahead of redevelopment.

The adult entertainment club shared the news on Instagram, announcing that it will be closing its doors at its iconic Dundas St. E. location at the end of the month. "Thank you to all our friends who became part of the Filmores family over the past 45 years," the statement read.

The post confirms that Filmores is closing due to redevelopment plans that have been brewing for years. Menkes Developments purchased Filmores strip club and hotel property in 2020, and plans to redevelop the site with a 46-storey condo tower known as Elektra Condos.

The closure, however, does not mark the end of Filmores Gentlemen's Club. The business is actively seeking a new home in the city. While little information is currently available about its next location, it appears that Howard Adams, President of Filmores Hotel, is treating the closure as a temporary setback, with plans to reopen in the near future.

For now, Filmores has marked Jan. 31 as its final day at the current location.
