Get the ticker tape parade ready because, for the fourth year in a row, Toronto has been named the "rattiest" city in Canada.
Monday morning, national pest control leader Orkin Canada released its annual ranking of the 25 rattiest cities in Canada and, once again, Toronto took the top spot yet again.
The company ranked the cities based on the number of rat and mouse treatments the company performed on both residential and commercial spaces between Aug 1, 2024 and July 31, 2025.

Both Ontario and B.C. each have ten cities in the top 25, with Toronto and Victoria essentially neck-and-neck in the national rat race.
Toronto's rat population has been growing rapidly over the years and will likely continue to worsen, especially if winters continue to get warmer.
Those little Ratatouilles – although ours aren't as cute and don't possess a strong work ethic in the kitchen – are often spotted in apartments, grocery stores, alleyways, taking up space on sidewalks, floating on the waterfront, and even riding the subway without paying the fare.
The same company also released a list of Ontario's top 25 rattiest cities with Toronto, Mississauga, Ottawa, Scarborough and Sudbury in the top five.

Besides burning all your belongings and moving to a new country, there are other more feasible ways to prevent rats and mice from scurrying onto your property. For starters, Okin Canada recommends sealing entry points, clearing any standing water from trash bins, and trim trees and shrubs.
Otherwise, the raccoons and rats are soon going to have to duke it out to see who truly runs this city.
