American tourist gives Toronto stellar review and here are their favourite spots

For those of us who live in Toronto, it's easy to lose sight of the city's charm between the constant construction and sky-high prices. However, every so often, a fresh pair of eyes reminds us why Toronto really is a special place to call home.

A recent post on Reddit from an American tourist provides just that, with their heartfelt review of a month-long stay in Toronto quickly gaining traction, racking up over 1,000 upvotes and garnering more than 135 comments from locals.

"I visited Toronto last year for just three days and instantly fell in love. I told my partner, 'We need to come back and really experience this city.' So this summer, we made it happen — spent 30 days in Toronto with the whole family, and I genuinely didn't want to leave," they wrote.

"The people were kind and welcoming, the mix of cultures was beautiful, and the food? Next level. There's always something happening in the city — and Toronto knows how to do festivals right."

During their stay, they checked off a mix of major attractions and local events, including the CN Tower, Casa Loma, Canada's Wonderland, Kendrick Lamar and Stray Kids concerts, Pride, Do West Fest, Little Italy Fest and Rib Fest.

"Each one had its own unique vibe and brought the city to life," the tourist added.

"Every day felt like an adventure. Whether we were exploring neighborhoods (Koreatown, Greek area, etc.), hitting up an event (St. Lawrence Market drag dance), or just finding a new food spot, it was hard not to fall deeper in love with the city. Can't wait to go back."

The post struck a chord with many Toronto residents who used the opportunity to praise the city's unique qualities.

"Sheesh, you've seen and done more in Toronto in 30 days than some Torontonians have in 30 years," one user wrote. "It's always great to see visitors come and experience and enjoy the city. They appreciate a lot of things more than many of us do, and it does remind me at times how lucky I am."

Another user chimed in, writing, "Toronto summer is amazing! I just love hitting up the parks and beaches and checking out the festivals. Love living here, despite the challenges we have faced. Glad you enjoyed, and hope you get back to visit soon."

One commenter acknowledged that while other cities in Canada might appeal for different reasons, Toronto's strength lies in its one-of-a-kind events and energy. "I've heard some Torontonians and those who moved West argue B..C/Alberta/mountains have it all… but I prefer festivals, sports events, and concerts over hiking and camping. Personal preference," they wrote.

Another Reddit thread posted by an American tourist also went viral earlier this month, amassing over 4,000 upvotes and nearly 400 comments. The visitor highlighted multiple neighbourhoods and attractions in their post, including Harbourfront, Distillery District and Kensington Market, writing, "Holy cow, what a city!"
