University of Toronto once again ranked among best in the world

The University of Toronto has retained its crown as the top-ranked university in Canada, and one of the top 20 worldwide.

U.S. News & World Report has released its annual ranking highlighting the best universities in countries around the world, and the University of Toronto was once again sitting atop the rankings for best global universities in Canada.

The report — which evaluates institutions based on research performance and ratings by members of the academic community — has U of T at 16th overall among universities worldwide (tied with Princeton, Cornell and UC San Francisco) as well as the best overall in Canada.

Ontario universities accounted for five of the top ten schools in Canada, with McMaster, Waterloo, the University of Ottawa, and Western also cracking the top ten.

Here are the top ten universities in Canada according to U.S. News & World Report's 2025 Best Global Universities ranking:
